Research Paper

As a requirement for this class, you must write a research paper. You may suggest a topic for your paper and your topic may be based on a subject that you are particularly interested in or feel very passionately about. All suggested topics must be teacher approved. Your knowledge and perspective on the topic must be supplemented with outside sources (research) and solid evidence. The requirements for this paper are as follows:

Ø Length: 5-7 pages (double-spaced)
Ø Type: Times New Roman-12 font
Ø Sources : A minimum of 5 sources
Ø Citation: Must conform to MLA style

There will be specific due dates for the assignments leading to the completion of the final paper. Each component of the paper will be weighed based on the following percentages:

TASK WGT
· Topic Approval & Thesis Statement (10%)
· Copies of Sources (10%)
· Outline (10%)
· Annotated Works Cited Page (20%)
· Final Paper (50%)

Keep in mind that the objective of this paper is to defend your position on a particular topic. The main focus of your research should serve to support your position, but keep in mind that a fraction of your work must highlight opposing perspectives and viewpoints (contrary to the perspectives and viewpoints you are aiming to support) so that you may strengthened your claim by refuting any existing opposition.
