What sounds like a delicious dessert but is actually a magical number? Yes, pi. Although the ratio has been around for 4,000 years, the symbol just turned 300 years old in 2006. The symbol for pi was first used in 1706 by a Welsh man, William Jones, but it was made popular by Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler in 1737.
